Twycross Zoo

Today we went to the zoo!

Here are a selection of some of the sketches I did throughout the day. It proved to be very tricky since those animals do not stay still for long! (Well, apart from the chameleon and the odd penguin..)

I think I enjoyed sketching the chimpanzees the most - I loved their enquisitive facial expressions and curious eyes. It's likely I liked drawing them most because they were the animal there that most closely resembled the human being.

The orangutan above was very interested in the carrot I had unknowingly placed in front of the glass.

All in all it was quite a nice day. Very windy and pretty chilly (gloves were needed!), plus we had to keep our ears open for the squeals of young school children so we could finish our sketches and make a quick getaway before they came our way! (Although one of them did compliment my drawing which was pretty sweet.)

And here's a photo of some meerkats because I was too slow to draw them any well.

Oh, I almost forgot! To randomly add on the end, I had pizza for dinner for the first time since I started uni (it was gooood).

Since I'm an art student (haha) I decided I'd make a flattering self-portrait of myself.

See? Food art!

You see the resemblance, yesss?
